Space shuttle Atlantis and its crew of seven landed safely in Florida Friday morning after an 11-day flight to resupply the International Space Station.With bright sunlight glinting off it, the shuttle swooped through a clean sky and landed on the runway at Kennedy Space Center right on time at 9:44 am EST.
Mission Control said no one could remember such welcoming conditions, there were no clouds in sight for the midmorning arrival, and the temperature was in the 50s.
"Could'n have picked a clearer day," commander Charles Hobaugh said during the final approach.Mission Control congratulated him on a "picture perfect" landing.
